The Braves made a few moves today, selecting right-hander Nathan Wiles to the major league roster and releasing RHP Amos Willingham. In addition, the club optioned Michael Petersen back to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game.

Wiles has been impressive so far this season at Gwinnett. In 14 innings of work, he’s posted a 0.64 ERA, allowing just two runs on nine hits while striking out 15, according to Baseball Savant. Last year, he spent the season with Durham where he appeared in 35 games, including 11 starts, and threw 87.2 innings. He struck out 72, walked 26, and gave up 54 earned runs.

Originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays out of Oklahoma in 2019, Wiles was picked up by Atlanta just last month. He has yet to make his big-league debut, spending his entire career in the minors to this point. Now, he’ll get his shot, and we’ll see what he can bring to the Braves bullpen.
