The Atlanta Braves have announced that pitcher Spencer Strider has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to April 18, due to a strained right hamstring. Strider had just returned from injury recovery and made his first start of the season last Wednesday in Toronto. He tossed 5.0 innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out five. It was a solid return that showed flashes of his potential, offering hope that he was ready to regain his dominant form on the mound.

However, hamstring injuries can be tricky and often come with a risk of re-aggravation if not fully healed. It’s something both Strider and the Braves’ training staff will need to monitor closely moving forward. The hope is that with rest and careful rehab, he’ll make a full recovery and return to the rotation at full strength. In a corresponding move, Atlanta has recalled pitcher Michael Petersen.
