Following Saturday's 5–4 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, the Atlanta Braves have optioned right-handed pitcher AJ Smith-Shawver to Triple-A Gwinnett and recalled right-hander Michael Petersen to the major league roster.

Smith-Shawver started Saturday's game, pitching five innings and allowed two runs on six hits. He struck out seven batters and walked two, before exiting in the Braves 5-4 comeback win.

Over three starts this season, Smith-Shawver has a 0–2 record with a 4.61 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched.

The Braves' roster move brings Michael Petersen back to the majors, as they continue to figure out the pitching staff in this young season. This move has already sparked a bunch of question marks in the Braves fanbase. With Strider due back this week, hopefully things can begin to turn for the better, at least some.
